Roger Federer has reached into quarter finals of US Open 2008 by defeating Igor Andreev 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The match stretched into five sets took everything from Federer to defeat 23rd seed Russian. The match was so consuming that during the game Federer often threw his head back in disappointment or screamed with delight.

 

He considered that the match was a test of his fighting spirit. After the match he said that he is pleased with his fighting spirit. Now, Federer will play with 130th-ranked Gilles Muller in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Interesting thing about Muller is that he is the first player from Luxembourg to play Grand Slam tennis. Also, he is the second qualifier to reach the quarterfinals of US Open.
