Swiss tennis player and World No. 1, Roger Federer will face World No.2 and the Scot tennis player, Andy Murray at the semi-final match of the Cincinnati Masters after both won the quarter final matches that happened on Friday.
Top seed Federer took over the former world number one Lleyton Hewitt for a 6-3, 6-4 whereas the defending champion, Murray had a tough three setter match, at the end of which he defeated the Frenchman Julien Benneteau for 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Roger Federer and Andy Murray have faced each other 8 times before, out of which Murray had won 6 matches.
"He (Murray) has been more or less the best player in the world on hard courts this year," the Swiss said during a courtside interview.
"I know it's going to be a very tough match. I just have to come out with my game plan and hope it works."
Federer had an easy game with Hewitt, breaking once in each of the sets.
Andy Murray, who has been in the race for the back-to-back Masters Series titles after he won the Montreal Masters last weekend, lost the first set, but took a 2-0 down to take his winning streak to eight matches.
Frenchman Benneteau made complete use of the opportunity of the below-par performance exhibited by Murray in the first set.
The Scot sensed danger of the World No. 55 taking over him as soon as he dropped his serve during the second game while playing the second set.
But the 53-shot rally that Murray won provided the match with a turning point. But after the break point, he dropped just two more games.
"I played a really poor first set," said the world number two. "I served really badly.
"That point made a big difference. I think he was very tired after that rally as well. I managed to stay strong after that”.
"When you can come through matches like that, it's a lot better. Everyone can win when they play good tennis”, Murray added.
