The first international film festival on the Right to Information will kick off in New Delhi on Oct 7. This film festival is being conducted to showcase and emphasized the issues which are faced by common man.
 
This five-day event is being conducted as a collaboration of various civil society organisations. The event will be showcasing movies from Bulgaria, Zambia, Bangladesh, North Korea, Switzerland, South Africa and India.
 
The festival, which will get over on Oct 11, will be inaugurated by Wajahat Habibullah, the Chief Information Commissioner of India.
 
The screening committee of the festival includes Habibullah, Magsaysay award-winner Arvind Kejriwal as well as Medha Patkar,, to name a few.
 
"Films have been a major part of RTI movement and I think the festival is an encouraging development. It will encourage filmmakers to make good films on the topic and help create awareness among people," RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal, who is a part of the festival`s screening committee said.
