The extravagant 81st Academy Awards night at Los Angeles surely belonged to India as 36-year-old Resul Pookutty bagged the Oscar honour for best sound mixing for the much acclaimed film 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Apart from Pookutty, Indian music genius AR Rahman also won two Academy Awards for his work in the same film. Resul Pookutty shared the Oscar with Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke for their work in British filmmaker Danny Boyle's Mumbai-based film.
 
After receiving the world's most prestigious award, Pookutty said that he cannot imagine to put his hands on Oscar Award. He dedicated the award to the people of India. He felt honoured to share the stage with Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke. Resul Pookutty attained his big success with the critically acclaimed 2005 film 'Black', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He lives in Mumbai with his wife and two young children.
 
Resul Pookutty worked in production of several films like 'Musafir' (2004), 'Zinda' (2006), 'Traffic Signal' (2007), 'Gandhi, My Father' (2007), 'Saawariya' (2007) and 'Dus Kahaniyaan' (2007). Apart from these, he also engineered sound for 2008 blockbuster 'Ghajini', featuring Aamir Khan. Born in Kerala, he received his school education in Malayalam medium. He joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune in 1995 against his father's wish. From the very childhood, he had the inclination towards films and the urge brought him success at Oscars.
