A study conducted in Germany at the University of Bonn says that with a painless invasive treatment a male can increase his infertility. The leading researcher Professor Sebastian Flacke talking about the study said that with the patients' improved sperm function, more than one-quarter of their healthy partners were able to become pregnant.
Professor Flacke tells that in men normally blood flows to the heart via a network of tiny veins that have a series of one-way valves to prevent the blood from flowing backward to the testicles, and if the valve becomes defective, blood does not properly circulate out of the testicles. And, in tern it cause swelling and swollen veins in the male scrotum called a varicocele.
The study published in the medical journal ‘Radiology,’ shows that the study was done on 223 infertile men aged between 18-50, and it was ensured that men under study had healthy partners with whom they were trying to achieve a pregnancy. Varicoceles were successfully treated with embolization of these people for further study.
After three months of the varicoceles operation, out of 223, 173 patients were found with significantly improved sperm, and six months later, 45 couples reported pregnancy. The best part of varicoceles operation is patient does not have to go through an open surgery, rather a retrograde venous embolization is done in it.
