India’s number two mobile operator, Reliance Communications have taken a 47 percent jump in quarterly net profit. Reliance Communications, a part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group has added 4.8 million mobile users between the months of January and March, taking its total to 45.8 million subscribers. The company is only behind Bharti Airtel in the country.
Revenue for Reliance Communications rose to 53.11 billion rupees from 39.37 billion. The leading telecommunications giant of the country Bharti Airtel also reported a forecast beating 37 percent rise in quarterly net profit to 18.53 billion rupees. Reliance is fast expanding the popular GSM based services to all 23 service areas from the current eight circles. Most of the current Reliance users are on CDMA platform. Reliance Communications Chairman, Anil Ambani after the 47 percent jump in quarterly net profit remarked that their company is more confident of improved performance in the future.
