Rebecca Soni of the United States grabbed the gold medal in the Women’s 200-meter Breaststroke at the Beijing Olympics, after displaying her incredible skills. Soni touched the wall in 2:20.22min and created a new world record. With that time-taken, she smashed world-record holder Leisel Jones and erased the world-best time of Aussie.
Both Soni and Jones were under world-record pace during the four-lap race. Soni placed second to Jones in the 100-Meter Breaststroke, but she proved herself in the 200-meter event. Leisel Jones caught hold of the silver medal in 2:22.05min, while Sara Nordenstam of Norway grabbed the bronze medal in 2:23.02min. This was the 19th world record set in swimming at the 29th Olympic Games.
