British reality TV star Jade Goody lost her battle against cervical cancer and died in her sleep in the early hours of Sunday (22nd March) at her home in Upshire, Esssex, UK. Her spokesman Max Clifford confirmed the news and said that, Goody's mother, Jackiey Budden, and husband Jack Tweed were at her side when she died.
The 27-year-old had diagnosed of cervical cancer during the shooting of an Indian reality TV show "Big Boss 2" in India in August last year. She had to quit the show in the middle just weeks after joining it in order to go back home and start therapy. Goody learned in February this year that the cancer had spread to other organs and was warned she had only a short time to live. The actor was being treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London but wanted to die at home with her family.
Clifford said that, the funeral service would be held at Goody's local church, St John the Baptist in Buckhurst where she had wanted to be buried. Goody, a former dental nurse, shot to fame on the 2002 series of Big Brother. The public turned against her in 2007 after she was accused of racism and bullying towards Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother.
