A tiger from the Ranthambore National Park has just been shifted to Sariska Tiger Reserve located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan in an attempt to rehabilitate it. A huge contingent of media persons had reached the venue beforehand where officials were busy conducting repeated ground inspections. It was after a long wait that the 220-kg, four-year-old Ranthambhore tiger gingerly walked out of a cage into his new home. A one-hectare chain-link enclosure at Nayapani in Sariska has been prepared for the Ranthambore tiger, which will be monitored very carefully during the initial days and fed with live bait.

This one happens to be the first of the five Tigers that will be brought from Ranthambore. Very soon, it is expected to be joined by a tigress and an opponent male. Officials state it will take some time to know whether or not this striped cat from Ranthambore has adjusted in the new environment. The suspense won’t be over even when, and if, all five animals are released. Nothing definite can be said until the second generation of cubs get born, say the officials. The concerned authorities have even been deliberating about shifting few villages from the area to create proper living space for the newcomers.
