Ranbir Kapoor’s Onscreen Mom In 'Raajneeti' Is A 30-Year-Old Actress

A 30-year-old first-time actress Nikhila Trikha plays the role of Ranbir Kapoor's mother in ‘Raajneeti’.

 Prakash Jha, the film's director said, "I was very clear that the facial resemblance has to be very strong. I wanted Ranbir, Arjun Rampal to look like brothers, which they do, and I wanted the actress playing Ranbir's mother to look like him."

 It is said that Ranbir, 27 is also choosy about his on screen mom and for ‘Raajneeti’ Jha wanted someone who would look like Ranbir so it was a tough choice.

 Jha chose Nikhila after considering many actresses including Mrinal Kulkarni and Raveena Tandon but Raveena thought that she wasn’t that old to play the part of a mom yet.

Ranbir apparently approved this unknown actress for being his onscreen mom the minute he saw her. Nilkhila’s role is a complex one who has to play a very young woman taking over a political dynasty.

Jha said, "When Nikhila auditioned for the part, I instinctively knew she was right for the part although she has had no acting experience. In fact, Ranbir who's younger than her was far more experienced. But he never let her feel like a newcomer."
