After the homosexual community protested for their legal acceptance at India Gate in Delhi, the Indian Government is in a state of despair. And more so because the Union Health Minister, A Ramadoss, has favored for the legal and social approval of gay community in India. While addressing a 250-strong India session at the International AIDS Conference, Ramadoss stood upright for changing the law that states homosexuality illegal. He confirmed his point by saying that denial of gay rights might get a political reaction back home.

Under the IPC, sex between two men is considered “against the order of nature” and its section 377 abominates men who have sex with men (MSMs). National Aids Control Organization (NACO) has approximated that India addresses 2.5 million MSMs of which 100,000 are at high risk of getting HIV because of multi-partner and commercial sexual practices. 15% of this community has already got infected with AIDS. As stated by Ramadoss, MSMs are major concern and some special steps are required to be taken to prevent this deadly disease.
