After the reports of violence from different parts of the state, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje decided to impose NSA in the state. To maintain law and order in the worst affected districts of Dausa, Bharatpur and Alwar, about 22 army columns and 76 columns of different security personnel have been deployed. Gujjars who blocked the Delhi-Jaipur highway for hours at Kothputli has affected neighboring states of Delhi and Haryana too. However the Rajasthan government gave no indication of its plan of action to defuse the crisis.  Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said, "The government is still trying to hold talks with the Gujjars."

Earlier on Monday, the government had lodged cases against Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and his supporters on grave charges. On Tuesday, Rajasthan High Court served contempt notice on the Gujjar chief, asking him to be present on May 30 in person. There were reports of bandhs, blocked highways, buses being torched and a lathicharge on agitators throughout the day. More than 150 agitators were also arrested at several places.

The district collectors of Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Kota, Sawaimadhopur and Tonk have been empowered to arrest anyone disturbing law and order and public peace by any act of nuisance, Principal Secretary (Home) V S Singh said in Jaipur.
