Rajasthan Royals defeated Deccan Chargers by 8 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur to register their sixth win in the IPL. Batting first the Deccan chargers got off to a blistering start with Gilchrist hitting the Rajasthan bowlers all over the park. Gilly along with Gibbs put on 61 runs for the first wicket. But after the initial assault by Gilchrist, Rajasthan came back strongly picking up wickets at regular intervals.
The Deccan Chargers who once looked to put a big total could manage only 140 runs at the end of 20 overs. Gilchrist top scored with 61 runs in 49 balls which included 9 fours and a six. Venugopal Rao (23 runs in 11 balls) chipped in with useful contribution. The rest of the batsmen failed to capitalize on the good platform laid by Gilchrist and Gibbs. For Rajasthan, Warne picked up 2 wickets while Watson, Munaf Patel, Yusuf Pathan and SK Trivedi picked up 1 wicket each.
Rajasthan got off to a solid start with Yusuf Pathan and Graeme Smith putting on 109 runs for the first wicket. Pathan played an impressive knock of 68 runs in 37 balls which included 9 fours and 2 sixes. Smith played a breezy knock of 40 runs in 43 balls. Kaif and Shane Watson guided the hosts to victory with 4 overs to spare. The win placed Rajasthan on the top of the points table who now has 12 points from 8 games. RP Singh and Ojha picked up 1 wicket each for the Deccan Chargers.
