Shane Warne-led Rajasthan Royals registered an emphatic victory over Royal Challengers in Centurion on Thursday (May 7). Chasing a modest target of 106 runs to win, the defending champions completed the task in 15 overs by losing only three wickets. Earlier, Bangalore Royal Challengers were bundled out for 105 runs in their allotted 20 overs after being sent to bat first by Shane Warne. The pick of the bowlers was young Amit Singh from Rajasthan Royals. The pacer took four wickets by conceding only 19 runs in his four overs. Apart from him, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets for 15 runs.
None of the Bangalore batsmen could score freely and both Amit and Jadeja were intimidating as well as economically. Robin Uthappa (17) was the top scorer from Royal Challengers' side. Jacques Kallis could manage 10 runs from 15 balls while Rahul Dravid was out for a duck. The disastrous batting performance from Bangalore Royal Challengers might stop them for booking a place in the semis of the India Premier League. When Rajasthan Royals came out to bat, both Graeme Smith and Naman Ojha tore apart the Challengers bowling attack.
Naman Ojha remained not out on 52 off just 38 balls, hitting three sixes and three fours while Smith scored 20 runs with four boundaries. Yusuf Pathan blasted 22 off 19 deliveries before getting out to Dillon du Preez. With this win, Rajasthan Royals clinched the second spot on IPL table. Rajasthan Royals will now take on Chennai Super Kings on Saturday while Bangalore will play against Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
