Mumbai police have arrested Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray from Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra at the early hours of October 21, 2008. The MNC chief was arrested because of Sunday's brutal attack on north Indian rail exam candidates by party activists. He is likely to be brought to Mumbai, today and produced before the Bandra court.
A case has been registered against Raj Thackeray and his supporters for attacking 13 railway board examination centres in suburban Mumbai. Raj Thackeray-led MNS activists were protesting against inadequate representation of locals. The MNS chief was arrested while he was on a tour to Western Maharashtra and Konkan region.
After the Sunday's attack on Indian rail exam candidates, Raj Thackeray threatened that if he is arrested then Maharashtra government would have to face brutal consequences. Meanwhile, reports are on that the arrest of MNS chief has created violence across Mumbai. The MNS activists are reported to have damaged some vehicles and toll both in Mumbai.
