The capital of city of Chhattisgarh, Raipur is expected to get a fund of Rs 1.36 billion from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for renovation of Raipur airport. This information was revealed by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel while he was attending a function to lay the foundation stone for the new terminal building at Raipur airport.  
 
Patel said that AAI will invest Rs 1.36 billion for the new integrated terminal at the airport. He added that the renovation work will transform the Raipur airport into an international-standard one. The integrated terminal will be spread over 18,500 sq metres which will hold 700 passengers at a time. He informed that the proposed airport terminal will be made operational by the end of this year.
 
There will be twelve check-in counters, one X-ray luggage machine, three security check points and three conveyor belts for luggage in the integrated airport terminal. Currently the Raipur airport handles 39,000 air passengers monthly. The airport handles daily arrivals and departures of 12 flights. 

Addressing the inauguration of the terminal building at Raipur airport, Patel said that seeing the emergence of Chhattisgarh as an economic and industrial state of the country, the civil aviation ministry has decided to construct an integrated cargo complex at Raipur airport. Apart from Praful Patel, the function was attended by state ministers Brijmohan Agrawal and Rejesh Munat , Raipur Lok Sabha MP and former minister Ramesh Bais, former union minister Vidya Charan Shukla, AAI chairman V.P. Agarwal, and others.
