Indian Railways in collaboration with Cox & Kings soon will soon runa pan-India luxury train, first in country. The negotiations are already going on between two parties, and both would reach onto some conclusion soon. The new venture will have 50:50 share of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Cox & Kings each.

India already has three luxury trains the Golden Chariot, Palace on Wheels, and Deccan Odyssey. However, unlike the three luxury trains, the new one will have a pan India character. According to IRCTC’s MD Dr Nalin Shinghal the train will have a separate entity to handle this venture in collaboration with Cox & Kings. The luxury train is expected to earn lots of rave after coming into existence.

According to press reports, the train would cost around Rs35-40 crore. It will entertain nearly 100 rich passengers who would be able to spend $400 to $500 a day. The decision to start a joint venture for luxury train has come at a time when there is a slowdown in India’s luxury train market, particularly when Deccan Odyssey is losing 6-7 crore annually.
