There is good news for passengers who are fed up of not getting reservation in trains due to excessive demand. The railway budget of 2010 has proposed the launch of 15 more Durontos for routes where there is excessive demand.
 
Durontos are trains providing non-stop end to end service which makes them superfast. Durotos are even faster than our superfast Rajdhanis.
 
There are already nine Durontos operating in India between Howrah-Yesvantpur, Sealdah-New Delhi, Chennai-Nizamuddin, Howrah-Mumbai, Pune-Nizamuddin, Nagpur-Mumbai, Ahmedabad-Mumbai, New Delhi-Lucknow and New Delhi-Allahabad. The ministry had proposed 14 but managed to get nine Durontos.
 
The railway ministry now has plans of launching 15 more Durontos plying between Mumbai-Chennai, Patna-Yesvantpur, Bhubaneswar-Varanasi, Lucknow-Guwahati, Guwahati-Chennai, Howrah-Chennai and Amritsar-Darbhanga among other routes.
 
Durontos are known to have pretty good occupancy rates of almost 100 percent or even more for some routes like Nagpur-Mumbai and Howrah-Yeshvantpur.The 100 plus occupancy is there because the reservation against cancellation scheme that allows two people to share a berth. The high occupancy rates of Durontos are essentially due to its fast service at affordable prices.
