HRD Minister Arjun Singh has recently stated that he sees no wrong in portraying Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate in the next Lok Sabha elections. The minister remarked that the young leader has got all the qualities of his late dynamic father, Rajiv Gandhi. Arjun Singh replied this after being queried if the young leader should be projected for the premier post just like in 1984, when Rajiv Gandhi took over as the youngest Prime Minister after the assassination of Indira Gandhi.
The HRD minister further pointed out that Rahul Gandhi was making genuine attempts in acquiring all the information and knowledge that it requires for holding a responsible post. Rahul Gandhi, who is an MP from Amethi, is being robustly portrayed as the youth icon of India by the Congress party. Arjun Singh, however, did not say anything about NCP chief, Sharad Pawar's viewpoint that Manmohan Singh be portrayed as the ideal PM candidate for India and that the UPA should fight the elections jointly.
