Spaniard Rafael Nadal was crowned the King of Queen’s Open Championship in London on Sunday, after he defeated Novak Djokovic. The French Open 2008 winner finally laid claim to his first grass court title. This is perhaps also a timely warning to world no.1 Roger Federer before the beginning of Wimbledon later this month.
Nadal has created history in tennis as he has become the first player to win at Roland Garros and Queen’s in the same year since the pre-Wimbledon warm up tournament began 30 years ago. Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic was in peak form after defeating Lleyton Hewitt and David Nalbandian, both former Wimbledon finalists. Nadal’s ace rival Roger Federer has defeated the Spaniard in the last two finals of the All England Club tournament. If Nadal can keep up his current form then, Federer is likely to lie in wait in another Wimbledon Final.
