The world number two Spanish tennis ace Rafael Nadal exhibited his prowess at Wimbledon on Tuesday, June 24 by defeating German qualifier Andreas Beck 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 in the first round. Nadal, who for the past two years has been a runner-up to Roger Federer at the All England Club, appeared quite at ease upon his return to the Centre Court, packing off a stubborn rival with few alarms.
However, Andreas Beck also managed to keep Rafael Nadal on his toes with some really powerful shots, but the latter did retaliate brutally whenever opportunity came his way, pocketing the first two sets with single breaks of serve. Andreas Beck, who is left handed, was making his grand slam debut. But still he demonstrated a stiff resistance in the third, not least when saving four break points at 3-3, and came within two points of snatching a set before Nadal romped through the tiebreak 7-0.
