Rafael Nadal advanced to the fourth round of the US Open on Sunday. The Spanish third seed registered a 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 victory over 32nd-ranked countryman Nicolas Almagro. But a right abdominal injury has put concerns over his fitness.

Nadal said, "I don't want to talk about injuries. I try my best every day. I won the match in three sets."

Speaking about his treatment during the third set of the match, Nadal said, "I won 6-4. You can see I didn't serve very fast but I think I played better from the baseline than before."

Nadal had called the trainer after breaking to pull within 2-1 in the third set.

Nadal said after his win, "I feel it a little bit now but I will try to recover in time for my next match.”

Nadal, will face either 13th seed Gael Monfils of France or 47th-ranked Argentine Jose Acasuso for a place in the quarter-finals.

"I have to come out ready for the next match. For today it was enough but for sure I can do better, “said Nadal.

Nadal speaking on his match with Almagro said, “"It was a difficult match. He started with a break, I have break back. This kind of match is important to win."
