A number of missing memorabilia of Indian Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore have been recovered by authorities in Bangladesh, who say these got ‘misplaced’ some 13 years ago. Dewan Mahamudul Haque, the Assistant commissioner (AC) for land, has handed more than 54 memorabilia of Rabindranath Tagore to the archaeology department. This information was provided by Nahid Sultana, who is the custodian of the Rabindranath Kacharibari Museum at Shahzadpur, Sirajganj. Shahzadpur in Bangladesh is where the former family estate of this late world famous personality is located and Tagore even resided here and penned some of his most famous works.
The said memorabilia of Rabindranath Tagore had got misplaced about 13 years back after the AC land office got reallocated from the Rabindranath Kacharibari premises to its own building in the adjoining area. It is reported that the recovered Tagore memorabilia comprises 19 monograms of Dihikashipur Pargana Zamindar which looked after the property that fell under Tagore’s family estate. Then there is also a big brass dish, metal glasses, a measuring chain and a bell that have been recovered. The Bangladeshi authorities said that the recovered articles will be exhibited in the Rabindranath Kacharibari Museum soon.
