RC Deka, currently in charge of examination department of AIIMS will likely be next director of the institute. According to sources Deka's name will now be forwarded to the Prime Minister's office by Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss. There has already been too much tussle between Health Minister of India, and retired AIIMS director Venugopal.

 

In recently held meeting of high profile people of the institute Mr Deka's name was finalized in the name of various other applicants which were invited by the institute. Earlier, the post was empty after the superannuation of AIIMS Director P Venugopal in July this year.

 

Union Health Secretary Naresh Dayal on the development commented that the selection or search committee considering the applications for the post of director will not meet again. From his statement one can easily make out that the names have almost been fixed and the same will be sent to the governing body for final approval.
