David Coker, one of the Australians captured by the terrorists in Mumbai attack, is likely to be nominated for an Australian Bravery Award. The announcement was made by Queensland Premier Anna Bligh, a media report said.

According to the report, Bligh informed that she would do her best to ensure that David Coker is nominated for an Australian Bravery Award. Earlier, after hearing about the terrible moments Bligh said that this young man (David Coker) showed remarkable calm under extraordinary pressure and acted selflessly to protect his girlfriend (Kate Anstee). He really deserves recognition for that bravery, she claimed.

David Coker and his girlfriend Kate Anstee had been in Mumbai only for a day, when a bullet broke the lady’s femur and exited through the front of her thigh. In such dreadful circumstances, David looked at the terrorist and carried her to safety.  He was shot in the legs while coming out with Anstee.

A media report said that though she was doing well, Anstee may require further hospital care in Sydney. Over 200 people killed and some hundreds, including foreigners, were injured in one of the most violent terror attacks on Indian soil on Wednesday (November 26) night.
