Pyramid Saimira Theatre Ltd (PSTL), a Chennai-based based entertainment company, has planned to modernize about 250 screens in four South-Indian states. The Company has decided to invest Rs two billion (USD 43.5 million) for this purpose. The PSTL's two million-dollar project is supposed to get completed within 18 months. Jyothi Theatre of Chennai will be the first theatre to be revamped under this project.
 
According to the Chairman and MD of PSTL PS Saminathan, under the new plan the company will be engaged in renovation of nearly 250 theatres within a time span of 18 months across four South Indian states. With an investment close to Rs 75 Crore, the company will be renovating 100 theatres in Tamil Nadu. The theatres in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will get renovated in the month of November, December and January respectively.
 
Under the modernization project, ticketing facilities and seat selection kiosks will be installed in all the theatres. Besides these, the theatres will have latest digital projection and DTS sound technology. The theatres will also be endowed with video booth for live TV and overhead projection facilities. There will be gaming arcades, music zones and food courts within the revamped theatres.
