Starting from July 14 Pune Monsoon Racing will be a major attraction in coming days. Rs. 6,13,35,000 are in the stake this time which is 15 percent increase in last year’s amount given to winner. According to some sources along with 66 jockeys some 46 trainers from west are expected to participate in the race. The race is popularly called ‘the traditional richest race for older horses,’ and is quite popular among veteran racers.

 

Mr Vivek Jain, head of RWITC (Marketing & Media Working Group) talking with media people said that this year they have obtained good sponsorships for the second year in a row. The gross contribution is about 80 lacs he said and added that it is an all time record.  Informing media persons about the rechristened RWITC Ltd. Gold Cup he said that with guaranteed stakes of 1 million this year trophy too has been given facelift.
