The Federation of Indian Airlines had earlier mentioned that the private air carriers would not fly on Aug 18 if the government did not announce a rescue package to help increasing ongoing crisis which they claim has escalated their collective losses to over $2 billion.

But, the federation said on Sunday the public sentiment and the willingness of the government to enter into dialogue with air carriers have made them decide to call off the decision to stop services.

It also expressed hoped that talks with the government would lead to restoration of the problems faced by the aviation sector.

The FIA's decision came a day after Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said the government was not in a position to private airlines financially.
