The test firing of the two Prithvi II missiles, which can be used as nuclear weapon, was carried out successfully by India today. The test was conducted over a range of 350 km from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, locate at a distance of 15km from Orissa capital.

The two home-built missiles completed their test firing successfully at 10:28 am and 10: 33 am respectively. These used the launchers which are sued by the army for conducting user trials. The trajectories have been tracked employing long-range, multi-function radars and electro-optic telemetry stations from different locations os that a post-launch analysis can be conducted.

The test-firing was supervised by Defence Research Development Organisation scientists, with logistics rendered by the ITR personnel. The naval ships had been anchored near the points of impact, in Bay of Bengal.

The Prithvi II missiles are already a part of Indian Army, which are handled by the strategic force command's special group.
