Heir to the British throne Prince William is to join Royal Navy in the Caribbean for two months mission. Prince William will join patrols searching for drug runners in Caribbean waters aboard the frigate HMS Iron Duke, the British media reported late on Saturday. The crown prince will also be involved in the provision of humanitarian relief in the event of a hurricane in the region.
The 25 year old British prince is believed to be excited and looking forward to the two month secondment. Rear Admiral Robert Cooling, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff, said the attachment would be 'rigorous' and 'challenging'. Earlier the Prince in April 2008 earned his wings by completing his pilot training at RAF Cranwell. Prince William has bee spending time with both the RAF and the Royal Navy to prepare him for his future role. During his two months association with the Royal Navy, the Prince will spend five weeks on HMS Iron Duke in the Caribbean and three weeks at the Britannia Royal Naval College.
