Prince Harry will be one among the 160 soldiers who will be getting a medal for their services in Afghanistan. The troops will be honored for their role in fighting against Taliban. The award ceremony will be held in Windsor on May 5, 2008. He will be awarded with the Afghanistan Medal by his aunt, the Princess Royal. According to The Sun, the ceremony will take place at the Household Cavalry's Combermere Barracks in Windsor.
It is to be noted that at the end of February, news about his presence broke out which cut short the prince's tour to Afghanistan. But by then he had served for more than four weeks to be entitled for the medal. The medal, also known as Operational Service Medal (OSM) for Afghanistan, is round in shape and has the Queen on one side and the Union Flag and compass on the other. The centre of the ribbon has red stripe and the other two sides have royal blue and light blue stripes. There is a brown line at each edge of the medal.
