The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow got its new officiating director in the form of Prem Chandra Puwar on 01 September, 2008. Mr. Puwar was appointed to the post of director as Devi Singh ended his tenure of IIM director on 24th August. The decision was taken following a directive of Human Resource Development.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development had invited application for the post of IIM-L director way back in December. Out of the total candidates, 5 of them have been short-listed for the post. Singh was also among them and played the upper hand by extending his term as the director.
Prior to the appointment of Puwar the IIM Lucknow board of governors decided to constitute a committee of two deans to operate the institute smoothly. The new Director of IIM-L is reported to have specialization in consumer behavior and market research as he would be taking class on these two subjects.
