Hollywood movie, ‘Precious’ has been awarded with ‘People`s Choice award’ at the Toronto Film Festival.
The film stars Hollywood singing sensation Mariah Carey with promotional assistance from Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions. The film has captured the top award of the Toronto film festival which is directed by Lee Daniels. ‘Precious’ is the adaption of Sapphire’s 1996 novel ‘Push’.
‘Precious’ is a touching story about a teenage girl living in Harlem, who has been impregnated twice by her father and is withstanding a hurtful relationship with her mother.
Lee Daniels said, "I made this film for every person out there who ever looked in the mirror and felt unsure about the person looking back. This is not an art film for a select few. This is a movie that everyone can relate to."
Last year, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was honoured with prestigious People`s Choice award at the annual event.
