Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Sachin Pilot has mentioned that pre-paid mobile connections will not be banned from Jammu and Kashmir in the near future.
 
He also mentioned that there are plans for implementing said mobile towers in the borders along the line of control. He said that discussion will be held with defence ministry regarding the same.
 
"There is no such proposal at the moment”, he said while addressing the media on Wednesday evening. Last week, Home Minister P. Chidambaram had mentioned that there are chances for banning pre-paid connections in Jammu & Kashmir due to security reasons.
 
Chidambaram had hinted that terrorists could use pre-paid cell phones to direct militancy.
 
Sachin Pilot, while mentioning that security is a vital issue and the has more priority, the interests of people should also be considered.
 
"A balanced approach is needed," he said.
