The Delhi High Court order, which had suspended the functioning of Prasar Bharati Chief B.S. Lalli and his board from carrying out its daily activities, has been revoked by Supreme Court on Monday.
Putting a stay on the Delhi High Court order that was issued on July 27, Supreme Court has ordered the Prasar Bharati chief and its board to continue their normal functioning, in accordance with the relevant laws that have been enacted for it.
The Doordarshan channels are run by Prasar Bharati.
But the bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan which issued the stay has added that said the Central Vigilance Commission will definitely be investigating the alleged financial and administrative irregularities within Prasar Bharati. This order was given by the bench in the wake of the request put forward by Lalli's counsel, former attorney general, Soli J. Sorabjee, to continue the investigation.
