Sherry Rehman, Information Minister in Pakistan government informing media people has said that the leadership of the PPP has decided to field Asil Ali Zardari for the post of president of Pakistan. Mr Zardari is husband of assassinated Pakistan leader Benzir Ali Bhutto of Pakistan People Party (PPP). Incidentally, Zardari has charges of corruption on him.

The top post in Pakistan is free as Pervez Musharraf recently resigned from the post of president out of fear of getting impeached. However, Sherry Rehman has added that Zardari is yet to make up his mind whether he wanted to contest the presidential elections. And, she hoped that he will make an announcement in this regard within a day or two.

Now, the latest move from PPP may end in squabble for the second largest party in the alliance, Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), wants a non-political candidate from small province for the post. On the other hand Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced Aug 26 as the date for the nomination.
