A strong earthquake of 6.8-magnitude jolted Northern Japan after midnight of Wednesday, in which around 109 people got injured. The government dispatched a tem of experts on Thursday, July 24 to study the damages caused by the earthquake. Police informed that 15 people who got injured in the quake are in serious condition, whereas the rest have suffered minor injuries.
The mountainous regions experienced landslides, window panes got shattered, building shook and objects fell during the occurrence of the quake in northern Japan. Even the water pipes burst and due to this denizens of specific regions were left without any water. The rail service was suspended by the East Japan Railway Co for examination of the tracks for passenger safety in northern Japan on Thursday.
No damage, however, was caused to the Miyagi and Fukushima provinces’ nuclear plants or even the Aomori City’s nuclear fuel recycling facilities. A task force has been put in action by the government at the office of the Prime Minister with the quake's aftermath. The epicentre of the earthquake was 108 km under the sea basin off the north-eastern coast of Iwate province, informed the Japan Meteorological Agency.
