The victory of Portugal over the Czech Republic, 3-1 in a Group A game played in Geneva, has brought it closer to the quarter final round of the ongoing 2008 UEFA European Football Championship (2008 Euro). It were the goals secured by players - Deco (8th), Cristiano Ronaldo (63rd) and substitute Quaresma (90th) – that brought victory to the Portuguese. Libor Sionko, on the other hand, scored for the Czech Republic in the 18th minute.
Portugal got the lead due to Deco on the eighth minute. But the lead of the Portuguese stayed only for nine minutes, after which the Czechs Republic team hit back via Libor Sionko. In the second half, Cristiano Ronaldo managed to give Portugal the lead again on the 63 minute. Then in injury time, Ricardo Quaresma added a third after Ronaldo broke clear from a free-kick and provided him with a simple tap-in. Portugal now owns six points in Group A, three more than both Czech Republic as well as Turkey, who will come together in their final match.
