Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday, May 25, 2008 underwent an eye surgery, getting operated his right eye for cataract. The Prime Minister of India underwent the surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The Prime Minister has successfully been operated and the cataract has been removed by the doctors. Dr. Manmohan Singh has even returned home.
Sanjaya Baru, PM’s media advisor told reporters that the prime minister underwent an intra-ocular lens implantation in the right eye after a brief surgical operation. The cataract was discovered when Dr. Singh went to the AIIMS for a regular medical check-up last month. The doctors at AIIMS have revealed that Dr. Singh can resume his normal office work from Monday onwards.
