The Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh has suggested the execution of a 100-day plan to combat terrorism. The task force to suppress all kinds of terrorism will be headed by the National Security Advisor. Under the new plan, the cops will develop an integrated capability to address emerging challenges in areas such as left wing extremism, terrorism and insurgency, said the Prime Minster.
 
Manmohan Singh also suggested the setting up of a standing committee of Directors-General of Police, comprising five State DGPs on a rotation basis, to advise the government on police and related legal matters. The PM asked the police forces of the country to be fair in their investigations. He pointed out that the people of the country are losing faith on police. He asked the cops to work impartially to revamp their image.
 
Over couple of months, the Congress-led UPA government is under tremendous pressure as it is facing immense challenges to tackle terrorism, naxalism and insurgency. The recent move is supposed to be the consequences of such criticisms and pressures. The Prime Minister's decision to fight out all types of terrorism will very helpful to conduct safe and secure elections in the states.
