The Piramal Healthcare Ltd. of India has announced that it will be acquiring the polygeline-based blood plasma products of PlasmaSelect AG for 7.7 million euros cash. It is the brand name 'Haemaccel' under which these products are sold. However, they are also sold as 'Emagel' and 'Solucel' in Italy and Venezuela respectively. The Piramal Healthcare Ltd mentioned in a regulatory filing that the deal envisages brand rights, contracts, registration, dossiers and know-how pertaining Haemaccel and its related brands.

What it does not include is the Germany-based manufacturing unit. Piramal explained that it plans to build a new production unit at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh with an initial capacity of 4.2 million units. The combined revenues of Haemaccel as well as related brands of Piramal and PlasmaSelect are 9.1 million euros. PlasmaSelect will keep on producing Haemaccel as per the needs of the Piramal Healthcare Ltd to assist the systematic migration of manufacturing to the new Baddi facility.
