Phoenix Group Plans To Set Up Five-Star Hotels Zuri In India

The Phoenix Group announced on October 17, 2008 to open up its own five-star luxury hotels chain in India under the brand name 'Zuri'. With an investment of Rs.2 billion Phoenix Group is likely to start its operation at Whitefield near Bangalore. The first property under the name of The Zuri Whitefield Bengaluru will have 160 rooms. The five-star hotel which will be spread over an area of two acres is likely to open by January next year.
 
According to the director of Phoenix Group, Abhishek Kamani, the main reason behind choosing Bangalore is that it is an IT hub and lacks in terms of proper five star hotels. The Phoenix Group eyes the city as a prospective market for luxury hotels, he added. He has also informed of Group's plan to come out with another hotel near the Bangalore airport on an investment of Rs.1 billion.
 
The Hotel Group has already acquired the land for the air port project. Although Phoenix is focusing on south India, it also plans to spread its business in north India, specifically in Delhi and the NCR. After the Bangalore project, Phoenix Group will set up its luxury hotel in Kochi, Chennai, and Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
