The Union minister for petroleum and natural gas Murli Deora told the media on Saturday from Panaji that the hike in the price of petroleum will be decide only after the price on international crude oil is monitored.
According to the Minister, the government is hoping that the prices of the international crude oil may dip a little.
He also added that government will take some more time before any hike is made in the price of petroleum for checking if the prices of international crude oils become stabilized. He also mentioned that this will be discussed in the cabinet meeting also.
The Union minister was in Goa for participating in a conclave of the oil companies. Jitin Prasada, Union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas, was also present with Deora when he met with the Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat as well as other state government officials in Panaji.
The Union minister also added that since the Congress government had been aware of the suffering of poor people due to hike in price of petrol, they had earlier cut down the petrol price when the cost of international crude ol had gone down.
