The category for the special screening of Bollywood film will be ‘Not Quite Bollywood’ and ‘Peepli Live’ will be first premiered on the second last day of the Melbourne Film Festival. It’s a great compliment for producer Aamir Khan and director Anusha Rizvi, that their film has reserved a place in the international film festivals, much before time.

Melbourne film festival will begin from July 22 and it will screen five Bollywood films under the category of ‘Not Quite Bollywood”. It means that it’s a plethora of those films which really doesn’t have a glitz and glamour Bollywood quotient.

‘Peepli Live’ is one such film which is beyond the traditional Bollywood aura and reflects something real and meaningful. Mitu Bhowmick Lange from Mind Blowing films is the sole distributor of the film across Australia and New Zealand.

Mitu adds, “The much talked about film that has a casting of stage actors will be specially screened on the second last day of the festival beginning July 22nd.”

The movie casts a group of talented theatre artist and no big shot Tinsel Town names. The movie is conceptualized, written and directed by fresher Anusha Rizvi. It shows the impoverished condition of the Indian farmers, suicide and fight for their compensation rights in a humorous manner.

Mitu adds, “With’ Peepli Live’ the way we are trying to position the film is that it’s being positioned more as a World Cinema rather than a Bollywood film. That’s what we are following here.”

Aamir Khan will also fly to Melbourne, Australia for attending and promoting the film. The film festival will continue for 17 days and films from around 50 countries will be shown in the festival. Apart from Aamir, Anusha and the film actors will also be present on the occasion.

The film will release worldwide on 13 August and it is a 1 hour 45 minutes movie.
