Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lifted its ban on the Indian Cricket League (ICL) players and allowed them to participate in domestic tournaments. While announcing the withdrawal of the ban, PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt informed that although the board has lifted the ban, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) is yet to decide on international cricket ban on the ICL players.

Butt said that very soon a solution will come out as the ICC is holding talks with the ICL and Indian Board on the issue. However, the PCB chairman informed that ICC will make its regulations on home boards to allow tournaments and matches in their own countries more stringent. According to him, the new regulations are much tougher and allow the ICC to penalise any member country which does not follow the rules.

Ejaz Butt said that PCB is willing to induct the ICL players in the national team and this could be possible only if the ICC allows them to play international cricket or the players cancel their contracts with the rebel league. According to Butt, Pakistan is eager to take back its senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf into the national team if he terminates the ICL contract. Mohammad Yousuf is considered to be one of the finest middle order batsmen in Pakistan line up and the team is currently feeling his absence.
