The 32-year-old English all-rounder relinquished the post of one-day captaincy in August last year. Commenting on his new assignment, Collingwood said that he will make good use of the opportunity as it doesn’t come around every day. He will lead the English side for three weeks in the Twenty20 World Cup. The tournament will kick-start with England-Netherlands match at Lord's on June 5.
The selectors have recalled Rob Key and James Foster in the 15-man squad for the Twenty20 World Cup. All-rounder Andrew Flintoff has also been included in the squad along with Graham Napier and Eoin Morgan. Although Flintoff is included in the T20 squad but the selectors will wait to see if he can regain full fitness after surgery of his right knee. Twenty20 World Cup will begin in on June 5 and continue till June 21.
