Recently, the Railway Minister during his recent trip to Kuala Lumpur saw world famous service of monorail and got influenced with it, and now he wants similar service for his home state's capital Patna. In fact, the team of experts has already been sent to study the project and nitty-gritty of the same. The expert team will submit its report to Railway Ministry and then action will be taken on the project.
The capital of Bihar has a huge traffic problem like other metro cities of India, and monorail would be a great help to decongest roads in the city. According to Rail Minister's plan, the rapid urban transport system could be introduced in and around Patna in a 20 km circular route on elevated platforms which will pass through all the congested locations.
Piyush Kushal, General Manager (RITES) has already inspected the proposed sites in Patna. He is expected to submit his report on issues like usefulness and commercial viability of the multi-crore rupee project. After the completion of the project it will connect Bhaktiarpur with Patna via congested and populated locations like Bankaghat, Patna Saheb, Rajendranagar Terminal, Patna Junction.
