The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has picked up Pakistan's experienced striker Rehan Butt as the Asia's hockey player of the year. The announcement was made by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). The coveted award was received by PHF secretary Asif Bajwa on behalf of Rehan Butt at a ceremony on the sidelines of the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Congress in Kuala Lumpur.
The Lahore-based striker surpassed some of the leading hockey players from India, South Korea and Malaysia to become the best player of Asia. A former national captain, Butt was also recently selected in an All-Star World XI that was picked by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
The AHF has also honoured legendary Pakistani hockey player MH Atif with its life time achievement award. Atif passed away on November this year. Earlier the Pakistani officials met with hockey officials of India, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Bangladesh and Oman and they assured full support to the PHF.
