Fitna, a film by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, is facing mass protest in Pakistan. The film tries to explore Quranic motivation for terrorism, Islamic universalism and Islam in Netherlands. Thousands of protestors came out on the streets of Pakistan to protest against the film, which they say is an insult to Islam.

The protestors burnt the Dutch flags and shouted slogans against the USA and also burned effigies of the US president, George W Bush. Many of the political parties also participated in the protests. People also protested against the Danish cartoons of Prophet Mohammad, which had appeared in September 2005.

Last month the Dutch ambassador was told by the foreign ministry of Pakistan that the film has hurt the religious feelings and sentiments of the Muslims all over the world. The ministry also said that the freedom of speech and expression should not be used to insult any religion.

The rally was led by religious leader Amir Shah Quadri and they demanded an economic boycott of Denmark, Netherlands and Norway by the 57 nation Organization of the Islamic Conference, They also urged the Pakistani government to shut down the Danish embassy.
