Lawyers’ community in Pakistan has decided to go for four-day long procession on the issue of non-restoration of sacked judges. Earlier President Pervez Musharraf had sacked these judges who are still not re-appointed. The procession termed ‘long march,’ will start from southern port city of Karachi and will pass through Sindh and Punjab states and finally conclude at capital Islamabad on June 12th. The movement could have grave consequences for Musharraf who is already in many troubles.

Aitizaz Ahsan, president of Supreme Court Bar Association, said on Sunday that the procession was to create public awareness about the need for reinstating independent judges. Speaking at a press conference he said that the procession, which will reach in front of the parliament house in federal capital on June 12, would be completely peaceful and protesters will not be provoked and will not storm any buildings or damage any property. The wide support from political parties and civil society is expected, particularly after sheer discontent among people against Musharraf.
